Time: 09.00 – 17.00
Location: The Netherlands, exact location to be announced

Why Social Return on Investment?
Social Return on Investment (SROI) is a new, alternative approach to planning, monitoring and evaluation (PM&E) which incorporates social, environmental, economic and other values into decision making processes. It reveals the hidden landscape of these values, previously externalised from market values, and puts them in one framework with economic values.
This creates a new and more holistic perspective on whether a social business or development project is beneficial or profitable. This new perspective can open up new opportunities and form the basis for innovative initiatives that genuinely contribute to positive social change and poverty reduction for all. In this way SROI balances proving and improving.
In the last six years, Context, international cooperation and ICS have together built up a track record of SROI in the international development sector. Context and ICS work with social enterprises in Africa and Asia on a day to day basis to apply the SROI methodology. As part of a collaborative process a Practical Guide on SROI has been developed. In this training course, we will be sharing our experience with SROI, and the Practical Guide will be used as a main reference document.
What is the purpose of the training?
At the end of the training, you will be able to:
Apply the SROI methodology in your own initiatives/projects;
Produce an SROI report to demonstrate the added and hidden values of your own initiative;
Position SROI within the field of M&E and in relation to different valuation methodologies, social business, value chains and pro-poor market development or inclusive markets.

The training course is aimed at social entrepreneurs, project officers, PME officers, social investors, community facilitators, and those interested in social entrepreneurship and social business strategies.
