Strategic Planning and the art of knowing what (not) to do
What to do, or more importantly, what not do? What is our added value given our target group, current working context and capacity? What then will be our core
activities? It remains an essential task of senior management of every self-respecting organisation to ask these questions from time to time to ascertain organisational relevance and sustainability.

Participants:
You are a senior manager or organisation adviser (aspiring to be) engaged in the design, facilitation or leading strategic planning processes. You have an interest in methods and tools whilst honing your skills to carry out strategic planning in a systematic and comprehensive manner.

Course Objectives:
At the end of the course you are:

• Familiar with concepts of strategic thinking and planning
• Able to design and manage a comprehensive strategic planning process, including the key steps of envisioning, context and capacity assessment
• Capable to formulate a complete mission (including core service/ target group selection) from the context and a capacity assessment
• Better able to document the outcomes of a strategic planning process in a public strategic planning document
