Op vrijdag 27 januari 2012 zal de 8e Knowledge for Development Conference plaatsvinden in Utrecht: New Donors – New Investments – New Development? – Beyond the Millennium Development Goals.

De conferentie wordt georganiseerd door IDS (Universiteit Utrecht), HIVOS, FNV International, IOB (Universiteit Antwerpen) en SID Nederland.

‘In light of current contemporary transformations, such as the growing importance of new donors (China, India) and new investors, the Conference will critically assess the meaning of development. It discusses the role of these new actors in the South in relation to current attempts to define new global poverty agendas. How do these new relations influence the notion of development – ‘what development’ are they providing? What are the geopolitical implications of the new South-South and South-North relations? And: how to deal with these new realities in the post 2015 period? Do we need new development goals?’
